Sudesh certainly (Bho)sl(ipp)ed into mediocrity

Over the years, Hindi film lyricists have interpreted the sound of rain falling differently, but it certainly wouldn’t be incorrect to state that Surendra Sathi took the cake, the baker and the bakery.

The track in question was Rain Is Falling Chhama Chham Chham, from Gunehgar (1995).

The Shyam-Surender composition was five minutes and 29 seconds long.

A line of the song, which Sudesh Bhosle rendered, went, “Ladki ne aankh maari, gir gaye hum” (which could be translated to, “The girl winked, and I fell”).

Incidentally, Priya Prakash Varrier’s wink went viral 23 years later.
