Well, the
title implies that a track like Chhammak Chhallo can be sung without
what Indians who speak English call attitude. And guess what? It can’t.
Because the
name of the song, from Ajay* (1996), meant a flashy girl in Mumbaiya
slang, the language used by taporis, who have a lot of attitude.
Kumar Sanu
rendered it.
Sameer
penned the Anand-Milind composition.
(*Note: The
title of the film, which also happened to be the name of its protagonist’s
character, was, incidentally, the name of Sunny Deol, who played it. He was
born Ajay Singh Deol.)
