Alka sang a S(an)uperb song

N and S were not just the initials of Nadeem-Shravan, who composed the songs of Phool Aur Kaante.

But the two letters also stood for new sensations (or Nineties’ sensations, if you please).

And that is precisely what they became when they composed Tumse Milne Ko Dil Karta Hai, which was what every youngster wanted to tell his beloved then.

The track was penned by Sameer, whose trademark was his simplicity.

And the duo who shared singing credits was none other than Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu.

For the listeners, it was indeed a treat.

Ms Paudwal San(u)g it beautifully

There is absolutely no doubt that Nothing succeeds like SucceSS.

And while the aforementioned adage is applicable to every (Paud)walk of life, it wouldn’t be incorrect to state that it was amply illustrated by the popularity of the soundtrack of Phool Aur Kaante.

Maine Pyaar Tumhi Se Kiya Hai wasn’t just a track from the film, but a reunion of the (Aashi)quintet – composers Nadeem-Shravan, lyricist Sameer and the duo who rendered it (Anuradha and Kumar Sanu) – as well.

Every Hindi film music buff was invited to it.

And, needless to say, they had a ball.

Alka San(u)g this outstanding duet

Contrary to the first two words in its title, Dheere Dheere Pyaar Ko Badhaana Hai became an instant hit with the youth.

The track was from Phool Aur Kaante, which released in 1991 and marked the debut of Ajay Devgn and the Hindi film debut of Madhoo.

It was rendered by Alka Yagnik and Kumar Sanu. The duo sang its sad version – titled Dheere Dheere Hausla – as well.

While the man who urged youngsters in love to take it one step at a time was none other than Sameer, the song was composed by Nadeem-Shravan.
