This Kavita solo did rock

By no means would it be incorrect to state that the highlight of Baazi was Dole Dole Dil Dole, which featured Aamir Khan in drag. In fact, that is the only reason people remember the film.

The song, which was penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri, was sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy.

It was inspired by the theme from Come September*, which released in 1961. No prizes for guessing that it was composed by Anu Malik.

(*Note: It was composed by Bobby Darin, who didn’t just star in the movie, but also sang Multiplication, a song from it.)

(Ud)It was inspired, but (Sarg)amazing

Dheere Dheere Aap Mere was a track from Baazi (1995).

Majrooh Sultanpuri penned the song, which Anu Malik composed.

Narayan and Sadhana Sargam rendered (Ud)it.

It was inspired by Rafta Rafta Aap Mere Hasti Ka Saamaan Ho Gaye by Mehdi Hassan.

It was not the first time the ghazal by the Pakistani singer inspired a song from a Hindi film.

Basant Prakash composed a track titled Rafta Rafta Woh Hamare Dil Ke Armaan Ho Gaye. Penned by Qamar Jalalabadi, it was from Hum Kahan Jaa Rahe Hain (1966). Asha Bhosle and Mahendra Kapoor sang it.
