Mere Khwabon Mein Jo Aaye was the shortest song on the
soundtrack of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge – it was four minutes and 18
seconds long.
It was also the only female solo in the film – Lata Mangeshkar rendered it.
The melody, and Anand Bakshi’s choice of words – especially the line that went, “Kar baitha bhool woh, le aaya phool woh, use kaho jaaye chaand leke aaye*” – were the highlights of the Jatin-Lalit composition.
(*Note: It can be translated to, “He goofed up. He brought a flower. Tell him to go and bring me the moon.”)
